1. Annavaram Satyanarayan Swami:

Annavaram is one of the most famous holy places in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. The famous temple of Satyanarayan Swami is situated on Ratnagiri Hill. The hill is about 300 feet above the sea level with a lush greenery and the river Pampa encircled the hill. The temple has 460 stone steps from the bottom of the hill.

History of the Satyanarayan Swami Temple:

The famous temple of Satyanarayan Swami was built in the Dravidian style in the year 1891 by Raja Ramanarayana, who was a Zamindar of Gorsa and Kirlampudi Estates. Lord Stayadeva came into the dream of Raja Ramanaryana and ordered for temple construction. Raja Ramanarayana placed an idol on Ratnagiri Hill and started worshipping. Later the temple was re-constructed in the year 1933-34 and again in 2011-2012.

The glory and richness of Lord Satyadeva (Satyanarayan Swami) was widely described in Revakhanda of Skandapuranam. As per the tale, Sri Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara used the secret underground passages in the hills to attack the foe during his capture of Kalinga. The famous Indian Revolutionary Alluri Seetharama Raju also used the secret underground in these hill ranges during the British Rule.

The main temple of Satyanarayan Swami was built in the form of a chariot with four wheels. Infront of the main temple - Kalyana Mantapa was constructed and decorated with modern pieces of architecture. The presiding God of the temple – Lord Veera Venkata Satyanarayan Swami and the name of Goddess – Ananta Lakshmi Satyavathi Devi.

As per the stories, Meru who is the lord of the hills and wife Menaka was in self-abasement and blessed with two sons Ratnakara and Bhadra by the grace of Lord Vishnu. Ratnakara pleased Lord Vishnu with his penance and settled as Veera Venkata Satyanarayan Swami and later Ratnakara became Ratnagiri Hill. Bhadra pleased Lord Vishnu with his devotion and self-abasement and became Bhadrachalam where Lord Sri Rama was settled.
